Meeting Logistics

Location
The meeting will take place between June 30-July 2, 2002 at the
Statler Hotel on Cornell Campus. Prior to the meeting, on Saturday
June 29, several workshops will be held for educators who would like
to come a day early. The Statler Hall ballroom will be the main meeting
room. In addition, several breakout sessions will be held in different
buildings on campus. Please see a
campus map (needs Flash 5.0) showing buildings of interest
to our meeting.
Travel
Invited participants will have to make their flights arrangements via
the Cornell Travel Services. More information will be provided when
the official registration form comes online on April 3, 2002. We will
arrange pick ups from the local Ithaca
Tompkins Regional Airport (ITH). The alternative airport is the
Syracuse Airport (SYR) about 1 hour 15 minutes away from the campus.
We are planning to have shuttle busses between Syracuse and Ithaca as
well.
Travel
directions to Cornell University
Campus Parking: Parking on campus will be available at designated
places. There will be a $2.00/day parking fee. Those who would like
to park their cars on campus have to obtain a permit upon arrival. You
can obtain a parking permit at the Robert Purcell Community Center when
you are getting your name tags and meeting information.
Lodging
The official lodging will be at the university housing complex. The Mews
and Court
Halls will be used as the primary housing during the meeting. Self-supported
participants will have to pay $45/day for the university housing. A
room with single occupancy will be provided for each participant. Two
rooms will be sharing a bathroom. All invited participants will be required
to stay in these university housing to receive housing support. No partial
support will be provided, if the invited participants choose to stay
in a hotel.
The nearest hotel is The
Best Western University Inn. 30 rooms are blocked at a rate of $89/day
for a single/double occupancy. You can find out more about hotels in

under the places to stay. Please contact the hotel of your choice and
make your reservation. Please note that the hotels are relatively far
from the campus. Some hotels will provide shuttle services to the campus.
Please ask the hotel at the time of your reservation. If an invited
participant would choose to stay in a hotel no reimbursement will be
possible. S/he will be responsible for the entire hotel bill.
Social Activities
Reception -- June 29 |
Saturday evening between 5:00 and 8:30 come and join us on the shores of Beebe Lake for an ice-breaker reception/dinner. |
BBQ -- July 1 |
Meeting continues in Robert H. Treman State Park in an informal setting. You'll want to bring a bathing suit &
towel, some good walking shoes and a big appetite! |
Field Trip --July 2

After the close of the meeting on Tuesday you are invited to join us on a field trip in the Finger Lakes Region. |
Information for Families
Ithaca is a wonderful place for families! Within a few minutes of Cornell campus you will find beautiful
state parks for swimming and hiking, the Ithaca Sciencenter a hands-on science museum for children, the Cayuga
Nature Center, Sapsucker Woods bird sanctuary, Cayuga Lake, and many more attractions that your family can enjoy.
If there is sufficient interest, we plan to arrange special activities with the Sciencenter and the Paleontological
Research Institution (such as fossil-collecting). Additionally, if you need day care or babysitting for your children,
we will work with you to make suitable arrangements. Please contact Alexandra
