Using a new NASA Freeware Image and Analysis Package with Earth and Space
Satellite Data: NASA Image2000

Abstract:

Image2000 is an image processing program developed by NASA Goddard Space
Flight Center that supports the display, annotation, and analysis of
scientific computer images on standard desktop computers. Image2000 was
developed using Java v.2 and Java Advanced Imaging (JAI) and can be run on a
wide variety of platforms.

Image2000 is designed to meet the image processing needs of a wide user
community by providing both basic and advanced versions. The software is
suitable for classroom educators and students, image processing researchers,
medical professionals, and NASA scientists, particularly those involved in
remote sensing and earth science disciplines.

In this session we will explore a new image-processing package created at
NASA for the display and analysis of satellite and other type of imagery. An
overview of the software will be presented as well as few examples of how it
can be used in the classroom.
