DLESE Cataloging System Session
Katy Ginger, Holly Devaul
The DLESE Catalog System (DCS) is a tool that allows collection builders to develop, manage, search and share the metadata of their collections. The system creates metadata records in the DLESE-IMS framework and allows collection developers to view, edit and search their records. The tool can also be used to share metadata records with other libraries, such as DLESE and NSDL.
During this session, participants will use the DCS to perform cataloging and management tasks essential to collection development. The focus will be on cataloging, emphasizing the use of and definitions for controlled vocabularies. Suggested workflows for quality assurance procedures are also be covered. Information on how to download and install the tool will be available.
