Francisco Gomez

(a.k.a. "Paco" or "Paquito")

As a researcher at INSTOC, I am studying recent faulting along the northern Dead Sea fault system in western Syria and Lebanon.  The project incorporates detailed field studies (mapping, surveying, paleoseismology) and remote sensing (Landsat, SAR, air photos, etc.) in an effort to understand the nature of the fault and its potential to generate earthquakes.

In addition to the research along the northern Dead Sea fault system, I am also involved with implementing a GPS network in northern Morocco in collaboration with colleagues at MIT and in Morocco.

Please feel free to explore this web page, and let me know if you have any comments or questions. While you're here, please take the time to learn more about the our department here at Cornell.
